About

Matthew Dourdis is the managing attorney for Sherwood Johnson and Poles’ southern New Jersey office.

Mr. Dourdis attended the University of Florida where he earned his bachelor’s degree in History. After excelling at the University of Florida he then decided to enter law school and attended Villanova University School of Law. Mr. Dourdis has been licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey since 2011.

After Law School, Mr. Dourdis decided that he wanted to make a difference in children’s lives so he pursued and earned a Master’s in Teaching through a term of service with Teach for America. During that time period he served as a Special Education Coordinator helping children with special needs reach their potential. During that time period, he was exposed to the nuanced legal issues regarding families whose children have special education needs.

Mr. Dourdis decided that he wanted to help families in a different capacity and has since transitioned into representing clients who experience a litany of family law related issues including divorce and domestic violence matter.

Mr. Dourdis has focused his practice on the intersection of family, special education, criminal and child welfare law.

Mr. Dourdis has successfully defended those accused of domestic violence at both the trial and the appellate level and has been named a Rising Star in Super Lawyer Magazine.

He handles cases with the understanding that, oftentimes, clients come to the firm in their toughest moments. It is his aim to guide clients through these tough times and help advocate for them to get the best possible results while protecting their legal interests.

When Mr. Dourdis is not passionately advocating for his clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for his alma mater, the University of Florida.
